Something borrowed, something blue

March 9, 2010

Greetings and salutations, fellow stargazers! Showbiz Sista’s Little Helper Kat is here again to give you the low-down on the upcoming Channel 8 series, New Beginnings. Starring Jeanette Aw, Elvin Ng, Jesseca Liu and Tay Ping Hui, the series revolves around two families, one of which runs a funeral business, and the other, a wedding business.

On Tuesday morning, I headed down to Pasir Ris Park to check out the filming of a scene from New Beginnings. In it, two couples, Jeanette and Elvin, as well as Jesseca and Ping Hui, were getting married on the beach. This, however, was no ordinary wedding – instead of “walking” down the aisle, the brides-to-be rode down it.

Needless to say, the use of our four-legged friends in the scene introduced many problems. Despite the trainers’ coaxing to keep moving, the horses would often stop before reaching the ever-patient grooms. Also, let’s just say that everyone had to be very, very careful where they stepped, so as not to wind up with a shoeful of poop.

All this, of course, took its toll on the stars, who by now had been under the scorching sun in their wedding garb rehearsing the same scene for a good two hours. Nevertheless, they still found the energy to smile and pose sportingly for us:
